- Place an asterisk as a placeholder for unknown search terms. (Michael * Thriller)
- Put two periods between a range of numbers. (American Idol winner 2012..2015)
- Use “site:” to search within a specific domain. (Macbook site:apple.com)
- Use “OR” to Google separate words in the same search. (cats OR feline OR meow)
- Use quotation marks to search exact phrases instead of separate words. (“the cat’s pajamas”)
- Enter “movies” and a zip code to get movie times and film showings.
- Use a hyphen before words to exclude them from your search results. (trees -leaves)
- It’s better to start simple, and then gradually add search terms.
- Enter tracking information directly into Google to track your UPS, USPS or FedEx package.
- Enter “city name attractions” for a list of things to do and points of interest. (Atlanta attractions)
